Making Coffee more accessible though Technology

When we unveiled the c’2 Cameo at HOST last year, we had some extra help on our stand, from none other than Amazon’s own Alexa. Working alongside two students from SAP we developed a system to increase coffee machine accessibility, making it easier for anyone to create delicious coffee, through mere voice activation. Using Amazon’s technology, we brought voice-control system to our super-automatic machines. The video below shows it in action – and yes, it’s as simple as asking Alexa for whatever coffee you’d like to have. 


While Alexa is helping make machines even more accessible for users, apps are making it easier for consumers to buy and personalise their coffee out of home. Some of the big high street coffee names have introduced apps to make ordering your favourite coffee as easy as a couple of taps on your phone. Meanwhile others have built their entire coffee offer around one app. then concocted by their ‘robot barista’, ready for you to pick up and enjoy. They call it ‘Connected Coffee’. We call it very clever.


Today, technology and coffee go hand-in-hand. While we continue to innovate the technology inside coffee machines, we’re looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for technology outside of them.
